What your doctor doesn’t know CAN hurt you

We are now up to our eyeballs in election year politics including debates over health care reform. Dr. Steenblock has tossed his hat in the ring — in the sense he has just published his thoughts on how to reform our (ahem) ailing health care system. Click this link to read Dr. Steenblock’s article

One of Dr. Steenblock’s salient observations concerning how a lack of knowledge about alternatives is hurting patients is “must reading”:

“Doctors (MDs) would have you believe they know everything about your health and are given to pressure their patients to believe they have all the answers and criticize those ideas and practices from outside of mainstream medicine. Unfortunately, the average MD was never trained as a nutritionist or as a physical therapist, acupuncturist, chiropractor, massage therapist, herbal medicine expert, etc. and thus cannot offer patients much, if any, information on alternatives to the drugs and surgical procedures they are trained to know all about. All they can do is raise doubts about them or outright dismiss them.”

This lack of knowledge, experience and expertise in scientifically validated holistic-alternative methods and measures means that patients all across the USA miss out on gentle but effective treatment options for their aches & pains and chronic ills. Fortunately, patients don’t have to settle for status quo or “prescription pad” medicine as Dr. Steenblock is among those rare physicians who is an expert on a great many (if not most) holistic-alternative (CAM) methods and modalities including herbal medicine and therapeutic nutrition, as well as very sophisticated leading edge forms of care such as hyperbaric medicine, EECP, IV nutritional therapies and stem cell-rich whole bone marrow treatments (Money back guarantees on his bone marrow treatments for cerebral palsy & joint problems). And, he is just a phone call away! (Free 5 minute consultations to boot!)

So while it is true most physicians cannot draw from both the world of mainstream and CAM therapies, Dr. Steenblock not only is equipped to do so but adroitly does so on a daily basis.

 America’s Stroke Doctor

Known as “America’s Stroke Doctor”, Dr. Steenblock has treated over 2,000 stroke patients over a 10 year period using a combination of hyperbaric oxygen and conventional therapies. In 1996 Dr. Steenblock conducted a study to gauge the responses of stroke patients to a combination of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), physical therapy (P.T.) and bioneurofeedback (BF). Fifty patients participated. 97% of patients and caregivers reported seeing “good” to “stupendous” results. This study was presented at the National Stroke Association’s Ninth Annual Stroke Rehabilitation Conference during October 16-17, 1997. Click to see a summary of this study. Recently Dr. Steenblock added stem cell-based treatments to this program which has upped the healing curve even more.

America’s Stroke & Stem Cell Doctor

stem cell medical treatmentThe majority of clinics here in the US focus on containing or managing symptoms and not ferreting out and dealing with underlying causes & contributors to a patient’s distress. As a result patients wind up with a drug for each symptom and a host of others to offset the side-effects of these! Dr. David Steenblock, who was originally trained as a pathologist (medical detective), is better equipped than most physicians to zero in on the precise causes & major contributors to each patient’s ill health, and then effectively deal with them. However, rather than rely primarily on pharmaceuticals he favors gentle, natural products that support the body’s own innate healing mechanisms. But, unlike others doing holistic medicine, he possesses a depth of knowledge and experience that is unrivaled in the field. In fact, he set up the very first modern holistic medical practice west of the Mississippi over forty years ago and since then has built up a body of knowledge and insight that truly is unmatched anywhere. In addition, he is a world class authority on how to identify and remove toxic influences & other things that impede or retard each patient’s recovery & restoration. And, being a medical trailblazer by nature, he has created an endless succession of truly novel and highly effective methods for getting healing results, even in people who have failed to respond to the “latest & greatest” that other doctors have tried.  One of his medical innovations is the whole bone marrow transplant in which he harvests a patient’s own stem cell-rich bone marrow and gives it back to them!  If you are wrestling with a medical problem that you’ve been told you must live with, why not find out what Dr. Steenblock can do to kick start your healing?  To nail down your consultation just call 1-800-300-1063.

UT stroke & stem cell study findings parallel those of Dr. Steenblock

Stroke and Stem Cell TreatmentsUT stroke & stem cell study findings parallel those of Dr. Steenblock

“My voice has come back, I couldn’t talk at all and I still sometimes can’t get words out but I’m getting much, much better,” the stroke victim said.

The 67-year-old cosmetics developer is back at work, two months after getting stem cells after her stroke.”

The lady in question was treated as part of an on-going study being conducted by the University of Texas Health Institute which is discussed in this article: Click to access & read.

According to Dr. Dean Savitz, the UT Health scientist who is conducting the study stem cells are harvested from a patient’s bone marrow and then injected into the carotid artery. According to him this ”Stimulate things like new blood vessel formation, the formation of new brain cells, perhaps a reduction in the inflammation that’s occurring after a stroke.”

Does this sound familiar? It should because Dr. David Steenblock has been saying these very things since 2005 when he began using patients own bone marrow to treat both acute & chronic stroke and a host of other medical conditions.

Actually for patients who are able to get to Dr. Steenblock within two weeks of their stroke, he has found that two bone marrow treatments can produce a dramatic improvement when combined with the daily use of hyperbaric oxygen, external counterpulsation, pulsed electromagnetic therapy to the back of the head (which increases blood flow to the upper parts of the brain), brain growth factors, nutritional iv’s, and periodic acceleration therapy. These work together to help move stem cells into the damaged parts of the brain and bolster the growth and activity of the stem cells in the damaged tissues so repair can start immediately. Dr. Steenblock recommends that both acute & chronic stroke patients spend a minimum of TWO TO THREE weeks and preferably six weeks doing therapy in order to increase their odds of obtaining maximum results.

Dr. Steenblock notes that “This combination of synergistic therapies is remarkably good when used soon after a stroke since the blood brain barrier is still damaged and open which makes it easy for stem cells to migrate into damaged areas of the brain while at the same time hyperbaric oxygen is helping remove the swelling which also bolsters the ability of stem cells to get into the brain.”

Want to know more about Dr. Steenblock’s use of stem cell-rich bone marrow to treat stroke and other vexing medical issues? You can find out by calling 1-800-300-1063 and setting up your consultation with Dr. Steenblock.

Your chance to help change FDA rules on the use of your own stem cells by a doctor

stem cell treatmentsYour chance to help change FDA rules on the use of your own stem cells by a doctor

Have you ever found yourself angry with FDA policies or rulings? Wished you could change something that’s just plain wrong? This may be your supreme chance. The FDA has opened its doors to public input on existing regulations http://es.bna.com/federal1/20110427/hhs76p23520prule20110427.html:

In accordance with Executive Order 13563, “Improving Regulation and Regulatory Review,” the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is conducting a review of its existing regulations to determine, in part, whether they can be made more effective in light of current public health needs and to take advantage of and support advances in innovation. The goal of this review of existing regulations, as with our other reviews, is to help ensure that FDA’s regulatory program is more effective and less burdensome in achieving its regulatory objectives. FDA is requesting comment and supporting data on which, if any, of its existing rules are outmoded, ineffective, insufficient, or excessively burdensome and thus may be good candidates to be modified, streamlined, expanded, or repealed. As part of this review, FDA also invites comment to help us review our framework for periodically analyzing existing rules.

So which regulation deserves your attention? How about FDA 21CFR1271 (2004)? This regulation forbids doctors taking stem cell rich tissues from patients and doing anything to them beyond “minimum manipulation”? (Basically this means doctors can take stem cell tissue and give it back to patients but little else.  If, for instance, a doctor isolates and cultures stem cells from a patient’s bone marrow or fat tissue, that doctor — under current FDA regulations — has in effect created a new drug. And as a “new drug” these cells must receive FDA approval to be used.)

Interested in knowing more and maybe giving Uncle Sam your 2 cents worth? Well, patient advocate Barbara Hanson, who moderates a well known stem cell discussion board (Stem Cell Pioneers), has outlined precisely what people need to know and do to get FDA 21CFR1271 changed to allow doctors to take stem cell rich tissues and go beyond “minimum manipulation.” Here is a link to Mrs. Hanson’s “How to do it, to it” post:  http://www.stemcellpioneers.com/showthread.php?p=13618#post13618

A stroke prevention measure you can sink your sweet tooth into

strokeA stroke prevention measure you can sink your sweet tooth into

Can you have your cake and prevent stroke too? A good question with the holidays upon us. And the answer? You can if your cake is made with healthy fats and other ingredients, especially raw (unsweetened) organic chocolate.

Chocolate, as you probably have read, is rich in antioxidant compounds called flavonoids which are heart & blood vessel friendly. Its ability to lower one’s risk of having a stroke was demonstrated in a study carried out at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto (The results of which were presented at the American Academy of Neurology’s 62nd Annual Meeting in Toronto, that took place April 10-17, 2010.) The researchers found that people who ate one serving of chocolate per week were 22 percent less likely to have a stroke than people who ate none.  This study, BTW, had 44,489 participants! (Which may say as much about how easy it is to find test subjects willing to wolf down chocolate as it does stroke prevention)

Interestingly, in a second study conducted by the same research group, 1,169 people who’d had a stroke ate 50 grams of chocolate once a week. They were found to be 46 percent less likely to die then stroke patients who did not eat chocolate!

OK, so now you have good cause to eat a healthy dose of raw (organic) chocolate. If you’d like to learn about other leading edge stroke prevention and treatment measures, check out Strokedoctor.com

Good Health & Happy Holidays from Dr. Steenblock and his staff!

Stem Cells for Stroke

stem cells for strokeStem Cells for Stroke

For many years now Dr. Steenblock has advocated that stroke patients be treated with their own bone marrow stem cells as quickly as possible following a stroke. He then tried this approach by actually treating stroke patients using his whole bone marrow transplant technique (Recently expanded & improved.) The clinical responses were often quite impressive, especially in those treated within a month or so of their stroke.

How “on target” was Dr. Steenblock’s use of bone marrow derived cells for stroke? Very much so judging from the results of a two phase clinical study being carried out in India (titled “Autologous Intravenous Bone Marrow Derived Cell Therapy for Patients with Ischemic Stroke.”)

In phase I of this study, Indian scientists gave twelve (12) stroke patients aged 38-70 years 86 million bone marrow cells within a month of their attack. They found that ”70 percent were able to overcome their handicaps and became free of deficits like weakness of limbs and inability to walk.”

Phase II, which is on-going, involves 120 patients at five centers across India including the Army R&R Hospital (Delhi) and Armed Forces Medical College (Pune).  This will conclude during June 2011.

The tentative results of the Indian study suggest that using stem cell rich bone marrow to treat recent stroke can produce impressive clinical gains. Those interested in learning more about Dr. Steenblock’s whole bone marrow transplants for stroke should visit his website at www.Strokedoctor.com. “Make the Best, Better”

bone marrow stem cellsHow do new medical discoveries come about? Sometimes thorough sheer determination to make things better! Case-in-point: As a farm boy member of the 4-H Dr. Steenblock took their motto, “Make the Best, Better” to heart and made it his motif as he considered new angles on treating the many diseases and medical conditions that routinely crossed his path each day. One recent example: Dr. Steenblock observed that oftentimes the bone marrow of older people does not have what it takes to effect healing; stems cells in it are, in fact, sluggish and, well…..old. They “drag” rather than “hop to it” when it comes to answering the call to heal and restore diseased or damaged tissue. On-the-other-hand, stem cells in the bone marrow of people under 40 is typically vital enough to readily facilitate healing. The challenge for Dr. Steenblock (then) was to find a way to “revitalize” the bone marrow of people over the age of forty. To make them better.

As Dr. Steenblock pondered “old” bone marrow stem cells, it occurred to him that mobilizing large numbers of these “grandpa-grandma” cells from the marrow should prompt the marrow to create new, likely more vibrant replacements. To test this theory he came up with a combined drug and applied medical technology protocol that included the injection of a specific FDA approved colony stimulating factor drug for five consecutive days. What he discovered was that patient stem cell numbers shot up to as much as 10 times what has been true prior to their course of treatment! And when he harvested this numerically superior stem cell-rich bone marrow and gave it back to patients by IV, their healing response was consistent with what he saw in much younger folks. Of course, the sheer gain in stem cell numbers likely accounts for some of this, though Dr. Steenblock is convinced the increased healing curve also reflects gains in stem cell vigor or vitality.
