Mayo clinic study shows purging out senescent cells produces health & longevity benefits

senescent cellsMayo clinic study shows purging out senescent cells produces health & longevity benefits

In a Nov. 2 (2011) article that appeared on the very popular ScienceDaily web site (Click to access), a Mayo Clinic study was discussed concerning how senescent cells contribute to aging plus some diseases. From the article:

“Five decades ago, scientists discovered that cells undergo a limited number of divisions before they stop dividing. At that point the cells reach a state of limbo — called cellular senescence — where they neither die nor continue to multiply.

As a result, senescent cells accumulate with age (Though they ”comprise at most only 10 to 15 percent of cells in an elderly individual.”)

Dr. van Deursen and colleagues genetically engineered mice so their senescent cells harbored a molecule called caspase 8 that was only turned on in the presence of a drug that has no effect on normal cells. When the transgenic mice were exposed to this drug, caspase 8 was activated in the senescent cells, drilling holes in the cell membrane to specifically kill the senescent cells.

The researchers found that lifelong elimination of senescent cells delayed the onset of age-related disorders such as cataracts and muscle loss and weakness. Perhaps even more importantly, they showed that removing these cells later in life could slow the progression of already established age-related disorders.”

The bottom line: Purging out senescent cells produced health and thus longevity payoffs.  This finding parallels what Dr. Steenblock observed about bone marrow stem cells; namely, that as people age many of their stem cells become senescent. To turn this situation around this Dr. Steenblock came up with a method of purging out these devitalized stem cells using the FDA approved stem cell mobilizing drug Neupogen. The marrow, he found, responds to this purging process by producing new, more youthful and vital stem cell replacements! (Which Dr. Steenblock then harvests using a relatively painless procedure and then gives back to the patient by various means such as intravenous drip.)

ALS: You have to cover all the bases!

ALSALS: You have to cover all the bases!

Many stem cell clinics tackle ALS but fail to deal with things that either contribute to the disease process or else interfer with the activity of stem cells. To list:

(1)Very few stem cell treatment centers take into account the contribution of diet to ALS, as well as dietary measures that support stem cell activity. There are a number of dietary and lifestyle factors that appear to fuel the ALS process. Failure to identify and deal with these is akin to trying to raise a crop of watermelons in an open cesspool.

(2) Treating ALS without identifying and addressing contributory factors and processes such as heavy metals toxicity can compromise a stem cell treatment. For instance, mercury at certain levels kills not only neurons but stem cells as well.

Dr. Steenblock’s approach is geared to (1) prepare a patient’s body to respond vigorously to injected stem cells; (2) identify and deal with dietary, lifestyle and other factors that contribute to the ALS disease process and progression; and (3) remove impediments that tend to compromise patient responses to stem cells as well as stem cell activity in the body. Among the tools and methods which Dr. Steenblock utilizes:

(1) Placing ALS patients on a diet specific to their condition: http://stemcell.md/diets/als_diet.pdf

(2) Chelation therapy to remove toxic heavy metals from the patient’s tissues and organs.

(3) Use of stem cell mobilizers such as all-natural Stemgevity™ and FDA approved stem cell mobilization drugs such as Neupogen® (Filgrastim).

(3) Creation of individualized regimens that include use of leading edge FDA approved stem cell mobilizing devices such as Intermittent Hypoxia Therapy, Periodic Acceleration Therapy, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, External counterpulsation and more. You can read more about these on www.strokedoctor.com, and also in the November-December 2010 issue of Dr. Steenblock Clinic newsletter which you can readily access by going to http://stemcell.md/newsletters/nov2010.pdf (Go to page 2, the article titled “How Dr. Steenblock Can Help You Turn the Tables on Aging & Chronic Disease”)

Platelet Rich Plasma: Using a patient’s own blood to heal

prpPlatelet Rich Plasma (PRP): Using a patient’s own blood to heal

It sounds almost magical. A doctor takes some blood from a patient and puts it through a filtering system or spins it in a centrifuge at high speed, which separates red and white blood cells from the platelets (Typically a 15 minute or so process.) He then injects the platelets along with the blood plasma they are floating in into an injured or diseased area, typically a torn ligament or tendon. The injury heals up.

How is this possible for platelets to pull off such a medical feat? Don’t platelets just help blood clot normally? They do. But this isn’t all they do.  Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is rich in growth factors and compounds such as serotonin, fibronectin, adenosine diphosphate, thromboxane A, platelet factor 4, platelet derived growth factor, platelet activating factor and transforming growth factor beta, and SDF-1 that directly effects tissue repair as well as activates stem cells and encourage them to proliferate and grow wherever the PRP is placed.

And because Plasma-Rich Platelets (PRP) is typically injected in places where blood would rarely go otherwise, it can facilitate healing without triggering a clotting response. It can thus shorten rehabilitation time and even make surgery unnecessary in some cases.

Depending on the medical issue he is treating, Dr. Steenblock takes a patient’s PRP and either injects or infuses it directly into the diseased or damaged tissue (such as an arthritic joint) or mixes it with a patient’s own (harvested) bone marrow and then infuses it – or both. The patient responses have often been impressive, even dramatic.

Three new studies show platelet injections may help several conditions, including osteoarthritis – 3-11-10

How you can put your own stem cells to work to meet your health & healing needs!

stem cellsHow you can put your own stem cells to work to meet your health & healing needs!

Your body harbors stem cells in all its various tissues that help maintain and repair them. Your bone marrow is a major source of stem cells that circulate throughout your body and help repair and restore diseased, injured and aged tissues. Unfortunately, these stem cells may not be able to keep pace with injuries or various chronic medical conditions, especially when the numbers of stem cells that can be mobilized are insufficient to get the job done or the cells that are mobilized are devitalized or sluggish.

What can be done to remedy this situation? Here is what you can do:

(1) You can take a stem cell mobilizer. One of the most effective all natural stem cell mobilization products is “Stemgevity™,” created by Dr. David Steenblock. Laboratory tests done on blood drawn from people before and after using Stemgevity™ showed that the numbers of very small embryonic-like stem cells (VSEL) increased by an average of 300%! Stemgevity™ is available on-line at www.stemgevity.com and can be ordered by phone by calling toll free 1-800-300-1063.

(2) You can put Dr. Steenblock and his stem cell experience & expertise to work for you:

  •  He and his stem cell experts will zero in on things that are interfering with the vitality and responsiveness of your stem cells and deal with them. Dr. Steenblock has, in fact, developed a unique series of treatments that helps purge the bone marrow of wore out cells and promote their replacement with healthy, robust new stem cells. He employs a through head-to-toe (Whole body or wholistic) approach in combination with this that is based on his 40+ years of experience doing CAM (complementary alternative) medicine. Nothing is left to chance.
  • After any challenges to the optimal function & responsiveness of your own stem cells have been dealt with, you can have a whole bone marrow transplant. This involves an easy, relatively painless procedure in which stem cell-rich  bone marrow is harvested and then given back to you, typically by intravenous (IV) drip. Dr. Steenblock has done over 1,000 of them during the past six years. Click this link to read all about it.
