Stem Cells for Stroke

stem cells for strokeStem Cells for Stroke

For many years now Dr. Steenblock has advocated that stroke patients be treated with their own bone marrow stem cells as quickly as possible following a stroke. He then tried this approach by actually treating stroke patients using his whole bone marrow transplant technique (Recently expanded & improved.) The clinical responses were often quite impressive, especially in those treated within a month or so of their stroke.

How “on target” was Dr. Steenblock’s use of bone marrow derived cells for stroke? Very much so judging from the results of a two phase clinical study being carried out in India (titled “Autologous Intravenous Bone Marrow Derived Cell Therapy for Patients with Ischemic Stroke.”)

In phase I of this study, Indian scientists gave twelve (12) stroke patients aged 38-70 years 86 million bone marrow cells within a month of their attack. They found that ”70 percent were able to overcome their handicaps and became free of deficits like weakness of limbs and inability to walk.”

Phase II, which is on-going, involves 120 patients at five centers across India including the Army R&R Hospital (Delhi) and Armed Forces Medical College (Pune).  This will conclude during June 2011.

The tentative results of the Indian study suggest that using stem cell rich bone marrow to treat recent stroke can produce impressive clinical gains. Those interested in learning more about Dr. Steenblock’s whole bone marrow transplants for stroke should visit his website at www.Strokedoctor.com. 1. Mrs. Life says:

Is age a hindrance for the effectiveness of this treatment? Cause if it isn’t, I’d gladly share this to my uncle, cause he’s been suffering from weakened limbs after experiencing two strokes.

  2. Dr. Payne says:

More than a few older stroke patients have enjoyed considerable clinical improvements as-a-result of undergoing a course of treatments prescribed by Dr. Steenblock. And yes, many men and women in their 80s and 90s who underwent a stem cell-rich whole bone marrow treatment had a good outcome. There are, of course, many things he as a physician has to look at in order to determine whether a patient can be helped and, if so, what exactly is most likely to produce a clinically significant response. This evaluation process requires that patients provide Dr. Steenblock with a copy of their medical records, something I hope your uncle will consider doing.
